Hybrid Travel – Interchange Hubs
Opublikowano: 23.09.2026
A passenger travels to an interchange hub (usually located on the outskirts of a city or at a strategic transport location) using their own means of transport – most commonly a car, but it can also be a bicycle. There, they leave their vehicle in a designated car park (often free of charge for public transport passengers) and continue their journey to the city centre or another destination using public transport (bus, tram or train).
Park & Ride
Park & Ride is a network of car parks located near:
- public transport stops;
- railway stations;
- interchange hubs,
which are regularly used by public transport passengers.
Undoubtedly, Park & Ride car parks are an excellent solution for motorized residents of the region, for whom commuting to work no longer has to mean spending a long time stuck in traffic jams. All they need to do is park their car, change to a train, tram or bus, and reach work, school or another chosen destination without additional stress.
Benefits of Interchange Hubs
- Reducing traffic congestion: Fewer cars entering city centres improves traffic flow and reduces congestion.
- Improving air quality: Reducing car traffic directly contributes to lower emissions of exhaust fumes and greenhouse gases, which is important for the region’s environmental policy.
- Reducing noise: Fewer cars mean a quieter environment.
- Improving urban space: New interchange hub facilities are often accompanied by the revitalization and organization of surrounding areas, creating more attractive and aesthetically pleasing spaces that encourage social interaction.
